AG Garland Overruled FBI Agents Who Wanted to Close Trump Document Probe – Approved the Mar-a-Lago Raid

Published on

The radical and defiant AG Merrick Garland is being exposed in the media for overruling the suggestion of two FBI agents who wished to terminate a political inquiry into records kept by President Donald J. Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

On August 8, 2023, the FBI conducted a search warrant at the residence of the former president of the United States in search of sensitive papers they believed jeopardized national security.

Here are some details:

FBI agents found four dozen empty document folders marked “CLASSIFIED” during their raid of former President Donald Trump’s residence at his Mar-a-Lago club, a court filing shows.
Another 42 empty folders marked “Return to Staff Secretary/Miliary [sic] Aide,” were also found by the FBI during the Aug. 8 raid, the filing by the Department of Justice says.

Not only did Garland disregard the FBI’s suggestion, but he worsened the situation by asking for a raid on the Trump family’s home on what would become one of the darkest days in American history, as the nation’s highest law enforcement agency was used to assault a political operation.

Wednesday, the Washington Post disclosed the specifics of Garland’s ultimate power grab:

“Months of disputes between Justice Department prosecutors and FBI agents over how best to try to recover classified documents from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and residence led to a tense showdown near the end of July last year, according to four people familiar with the discussions.

Prosecutors argued that new evidence suggested Trump was knowingly concealing secret documents at his Palm Beach, Fla., home and urged the FBI to conduct a surprise raid at the property. But two senior FBI officials who would be in charge of leading the search resisted the plan as too combative and proposed instead to seek Trump’s permission to search his property, according to the four people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a sensitive investigation.

Prosecutors ultimately prevailed in that dispute, one of several previously unreported clashes in a tense tug of war between two arms of the Justice Department over how aggressively to pursue a criminal investigation of a former president. As a result, the FBI conducted an unprecedented raid on Aug. 8, recovering more than 100 classified items, among them a document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities.”

Joseph Hoft recounted the circumstance:

That was the day that America changed. When the DOJ sent FBI agents to raid the President’s iconic Mar-a-Lago, America changed. Laws no longer mattered. Marxists were in charge.

The extreme left WaPo concurred with our earlier reporting that the raid was extraordinary, but fails to mention why the strike was needless and illegal.
