Saturday night, flights were canceled and the airport in Hamburg, northern Germany, was closed to passengers, according to the German news agency dpa. A vehicle breached security and entered the premises.
According to federal police, an armed individual drove his vehicle through a gate and discharged two rounds into the air.
Additionally, police reported that the man’s wife had contacted them previously regarding a possible child abduction.

Multiple German local news outlets reported that the father was driving with two children inside.
Thomas Gerbert, a spokesman for the federal police, informed dpa that a significant number of state and federal officers were present at the scene and in the vehicle’s vicinity.
