Bannon’s Lawyer Makes Announcement Then Requests To Be Removed From Case

Last November, former Trump White House senior advisor Steve Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury. A warrant for his arrest was also issued at the time. Three weeks before that, Democrats in the House of Representatives voted to refer Bannon to the DOJ for criminal contempt of Congress.

Bannon refused to comply with the sham January 6 Committee which is being run by 100% by Democrats with the exception of two RINO, Trump-hating Republicans, Reps Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

“Bannon, 67, is charged with one contempt count involving his refusal to appear for a deposition and another involving his refusal to produce documents, despite a subpoena from the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol,” The DOJ confirmed at the time.

Bannon was in federal court last month, a day after a judge rejected his bid to have the criminal contempt of Congress charges against him dropped.

The War Room Pandemic host said at the time, “Look, I want to thank the J6 Committee hearing for casting me today because you know why? Their ratings stink, and they can not compete with the trial of Bannon. Ok? That is why they cast me today.”

The kangaroo-court hearings have been an utter flop for Democrats so far.

Democrats have been hoping to set Trump for the violence on January 6th and use Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which can prevent people from holding federal office if they are found to have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the Constitution.

Prior to the court proceedings, Bannon said that the would be a “populist uprising” made up of “Hispanics, African Americans, and working-class people,” that would sweep the coming elections.

Now, Bannon’s attorney is asking to be relieved of the responsibility of handling the case.

The District Court for the District of Columbia received an application by attorney Robert Costello outlining a conflict of interest that he will have in representing Bannon going forward.

According to Reuters, “A lawyer for Steve Bannon is seeking to withdraw from representing the adviser to former President Donald Trump in his criminal contempt case, citing the possibility of being called as a witness at trial, a court document on Friday showed.”

His lawyer Robert Costello, in the court filing on Friday, said he served as “Bannon’s sole basis of information about the facts and the law concerning this matter” and that while he could serve as his attorney before the trial it appeared less clear that he could represent Bannon once proceedings began.

“Since it appears there will be a trial, and since it appears that at this point in time I might be called as a witness, I must reluctantly ask the Court to grant my request” asking to withdraw as trial counsel, Robert Costello wrote in a filing with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

As part of his refusal to provide evidence to the sham committee, Bannon cited Trump’s claim of executive privilege as legal protection for his materials.

Bannon has stated that he believes Joe Biden will be impeached in November over the administration’s handling of the immigration crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“You have stood down ICE and you’ve stood down Border Patrol, and guess what? That’s the impeachment hearing I want to hear,” Bannon said in a segment on his War Room show in May.

“You’re going to sit there day after day and week after week and we’re going to bring the witnesses,” Bannon added. “We’re going to bring the witnesses of what you did to this country and what you did on the southern border.”

“Preserve your documents because after impeachment, they’re going to put you up on criminal charges. Criminal charges for allowing this country to be invaded by your actions.”

“Acts of commission not acts of omission,” he declared. “We’re not going to back down, so write it down. This November is about one thing: it’s impeaching Joe Biden to stop this madness and to stop this illegitimate regime from destroying our nation.”

The former Trump advisor went after UFC color commentator Joe Rogan on his show this week.

According to the Washington Times, “Bannon came out swinging against Joe Rogan for his comments about never wanting to have former President Donald Trump on his top-rated podcast.”

Mr. Bannon, a former White House chief strategist in the Trump administration, said the former president doesn’t need Mr. Rogan’s platform or the “low-information voters” who make up the audience for “The Joe Rogan Experience,” according to the Daily Beast.

“Trump deals with high-information people. Your audience couldn’t handle ‘War Room’ — couldn’t follow it,” Mr. Bannon said, referencing his own podcast.

The Daily Beast added that Bannon also accused Rogan of “taking the hundred million dollars of blood money” from streaming service Spotify.

“The comment alluded to Spotify hosting the music and videos from the shooter in Highland Park, Illinois, who reportedly confessed to carrying out the attack that left seven people dead and dozens injured,” the Times explained.

Mr. Rogan said during a show this week that he had turned down multiple chances for Mr. Trump to appear on his show.

“I am not a Trump supporter, in any way, shape or form,” Mr. Rogan told guest Lex Fridman, a computer scientist and podcast host himself. “I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him.”

The podcaster, who gained fame as the host of “Fear Factor” and is also a UFC commentator, said he feels Mr. Trump is an “existential threat to democracy.”

Mr. Rogan said he feared that welcoming Mr. Trump on his show might rehabilitate the former president’s image.
