According to recent media sources, Democrat Joe Biden is receiving terrible news as the scandalous classified papers saga around him continues to develop as his whole administration scrambles to deflect spotlight on the Biden family.
CBS News stated that, according to a latest source on the subject, the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) is considering examining more places for additional secret materials after a search of his Wilmington, Delaware residence on Friday revealed additional classified material.
“Justice Department officials are also considering the possibility of conducting other consensual searches at locations linked to Mr. Biden, said the source familiar with the investigation,” the report said.
“DOJ took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice President. DOJ also took for further review personally handwritten notes from the vice-presidential years,” Biden’s personal attorney said.
CNN said that the search was performed over a 12-hour period on Friday with the agreement of the president’s lawyers, unlike the raid on the previous president’s residence.
These six things are in addition to materials previously discovered at Biden’s home in Wilmington and in his office.
Carmine Sabia of Conservative Brief reported that the federal search of Biden’s home, which was voluntary, represents an escalation of special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents and will inevitably draw comparisons to his predecessor, former President Donald Trump – even though the FBI’s search of Trump’s residence was conducted under different circumstances.
Five months ago, the FBI obtained a search warrant to search Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. This unprecedented action was taken because federal investigators had evidence that Trump had not turned over all classified materials in his possession to the National Archives after receiving a subpoena. The handling of secret information by Trump at Mar-a-Lago is also the subject of an inquiry undertaken by special counsel Jack Smith.
The search indicates that federal officials are rapidly advancing the investigation into the secret materials discovered in Biden’s possession. A little more than a week after being appointed, Hur is probing how the president and his administration handled Obama-era sensitive information recently discovered in Biden’s private possession.
Members of the president’s private legal team and the White House attorney were permitted “full access” to the Biden residence during what they termed a “thorough search.”
The president stated on Thursday, the day before the fresh search, that he has “no regrets” about how he has handled the situation.
“We found a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place,” he said. “We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department. We’re fully cooperating, looking forward to getting this resolved quickly. I think you’re gonna find there’s nothing there. I have no regrets. I’m following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do. That’s exactly what we’re doing. There’s no there there.”
