Joe Biden’s humiliating gaffes are becoming increasingly unusual with each passing day, and his most recent gaffe was particularly peculiar.
On Friday, Biden spoke at the National Safety Communities Summit in Connecticut about gun control. In addition to Biden’s all-too-common ramblings and disconnected thoughts, there was a peculiar moment near the conclusion of the speech.
Before leaving the stage, Biden thanked the audience and declared, “God save the queen, man.”

This comment regarding the monarch is perplexing for two reasons. Biden is most likely referring to the death of Queen Elizabeth II of England, which occurred nine months ago and dominated cable news for two weeks.
Biden attended the queen’s funeral in London, and his wife attended the coronation of the new king, Charles III, so he should be aware of the new expression, “God save the king.”
Second, even if the monarch were still alive, Biden has no reason to include this information in his speech. After all, the United States does not have a monarch, and the phrase “God save the queen” is distinctly British.
Lastly, and perhaps most unsettling, his speech was about gun control and had nothing to do with England or the monarch.
If he were speaking about the significance of the relationship between the United States and Great Britain, this might make sense. However, he was discussing firearms control. It was unnecessary to mention the monarch.
However, the scenario became even stranger immediately after the error. Biden appeared unsure of where he should leave the stage, indicating to the audience members and imploring them where he should go.
Eventually, a staff member assisted him off the stage, and Biden gingerly jogged across the stage to leave.
These two humiliating incidents reflect poorly on Biden. People in the United States are accustomed to Biden making humiliating gaffes, stumbling over his words, and ignoring what he was going to say.
However, what transpired during this speech is particularly unfortunate for Biden. Age is catching up with him in every way imaginable.
Biden’s intellect is obviously aging, as evidenced by his comment about the monarch, and his body is also aging, as evidenced by the fact that he required assistance to exit the stage.
There is nothing wrong with that in a vacuum. Even with its flaws, aging can be an attractive process. If Biden were only a grandfather, these gaffes might even have a certain appeal.
However, he is not merely a grandfather. Additionally, Biden is the President of the United States. There is no greater or more prestigious title.
When the president requires assistance to exit the stage and cannot recall significant international news stories, it is reasonable to query the individual’s suitability for the position.
This is neither healthy for the country nor for Joe Biden, and Congress should seriously consider whether he should remain in office.
