The previously unseen Capitol building security film that was ultimately released by now-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy debunks allegations of a planned “insurrection” and provides evidence of the calm throng and the positive encounters with Capitol police on that day. Due to the fact that the tape was hidden, it was not utilized in the trials of individuals accused of violence on that day; instead, only brief, incomplete footage that may have been edited was revealed.
When the House and its then-Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, were tasked with examining the events of the day, it appears that their “study” was superficial and maybe prejudiced or controlled.
McCarthy handed the newly accessible tape to Tucker Carlson of FOX News, who leads the cable ratings and attracts the most viewers of any single presenter. On Monday, Carlson broadcast some of the 41,000 hours of previously unreported video footage collected in and around the United States Capitol on the day of the violence. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy defended his choice to grant access to Carlson’s team earlier this week.
“Do you regret giving him this footage so he could whitewash the events of that day?” one reporter asked the California Republican. McCarthy responded by citing “transparency” as a major reason why he gave Fox News first access.
“I said at the very beginning – transparency. And so what I want to produce for everybody is exactly what I said, that people can actually look at it and see what’s gone on that day,” McCarthy noted. “Each person can come up with their own conclusion [about the footage], but what I just want to make sure is I had transparency,” he continued.

On his broadcast, Carlson criticized a number of individuals, including members of the House Jan. 6 Committee, who had been hand-picked by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Biden administration officials, notably Attorney General Merrick Garland. “Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland is a liar. He just lied about something that is provably false. No police officers died that day on January 6. None. Not one,” he said.

In addition, Carlson’s remarks carry legal weight. Conservative Brief reported that a counsel for a prisoner currently being imprisoned on charges relating to the disturbance at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, has filed a request with the Justice Department in response to Carlson’s Monday broadcast of video footage from that day.
“We just filed a motion in USA v RYAN TAYLOR NICHOLS to prevent the Government from advancing the false narrative that police were killed by protestors on J6,” attorney Joseph McBride tweeted on Friday, adding: “NO MORE LIES.”

In a subsequent tweet, he said, “They lied about everything!” with a link to the DC Metropolitan Police Report. “They knew MAGA Republicans were coming to protest, so they entrapped them,” he charged.
