House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pledged earlier this month to share all film of the January 6 Capitol brawl to the public.
“I think the public should see what happened on that day,” McCarthy said of the footage. “I watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. For the first time in the history — as a speaker — not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee. We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written on a political basis.”
McCarthy appears to have given Tucker Carlson and his crew thousands of hours of January 6 material, but only Carlson appears to have access to it at this moment.
According to a source for Axios, the Carlson team was provided 14,000 hours of tape, however writer Mike Allen was told there is even more information. Reportedly, Carlson’s crew is reviewing this footage as you read this.
Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.
“There was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson told Allen.
“If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6,” he added. “By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”
Carlson has spent a great lot of time addressing the gaps in the left’s narratives surrounding the January 6 riot, since he has been a skeptic of the Democrats’ assertions about the incident. Mainstream news sources and lefty groups like the ADL have understandably reacted with anger and scorn to this.
Indeed, Democrats have sought to exploit the January 6 incident as a political weapon to portray Republicans as insurgents and anybody who challenge Democrat narratives as “truthers.” All of this is accomplished while constructing storylines around specific footage.
Access to this tape by Carlson’s team will certainly allow for counterarguments, but it is unclear whether his team has exclusive access.
In the coming weeks, Carlson and his team will certainly release video, and it’s not out of the question that a Fox Nation special may be produced on the side.
It is presently unknown if McCarthy will reveal the film to the public once Carlson’s staff has completed its review. One thing is certain. Once Carlson begins releasing film that puts doubt on the Democrat Party’s narratives surrounding the incident, the Democrats will enter a state of full-scale crisis and lash out like a trapped animal.
