BREAKING: Jim Jordan Reveals John Durham Will Testify To Congress On FBI’s Russia Collusion Investigation

Published on

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government, spoke with Fox News on Wednesday to discuss the latest Durham report leaks and affirm that the special counsel will testify before his committee.

“I do think he will come. You sort of owe it to the country after doing this good work. This long, long report that he put together with these harsh and troubling findings. I do think he will come in front of Congress. I think he owes that to the country and let’s hope he does,” Jordan declared, noting that FISA is due for renewed status.

“I hope he comes because we have a lot of important questions for him,” he continued, also stating that there was “no reason whatsoever” for opening the investigation into the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.

As previously documented by the DC Enquirer, the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with the Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election concluded with the publication of U.S. Special Counsel John Durham’s final report.

President Trump was ultimately cleared in the lengthy, over 300-page assessment, according to Durham, who noted that “Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”

According to Just The News, the report asserts that the FBI and the Justice Department erred by allowing the investigation into President Trump to continue without following proper procedure and policy, such as using a FISA warrant to eavesdrop on an American citizen.

“Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we concluded the Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report,” the study states.

“The FBI personnel also repeatedly disregarded important requirements when they continued to seek renewals of that FISA surveillance while acknowledging — both then and in hindsight — that they did not genuinely believe there was probably cause to believe that the target was knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of foreign power,” Durham went on.

Durham concluded that the FBI and Department of Justice should never have opened an investigation into President Trump, but he made no accusations against those responsible.

After the long-awaited report by Special Counsel John Durham was released this week, House Republicans demanded action, claiming that federal intelligence and agencies had been “weaponized” against political adversaries such as former President Donald Trump.

The following week, Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, invited Durham to speak before the panel’s special subcommittee on government weaponization. The Ohio Republican, who together with other Republicans asserted that the research proved Trump was a political target, is now demanding accountability.

“Where’s the accountability for this? Who’s going to be held accountable? These are the questions we’re going to continue to ask,” Jordan said.

Similar sentiments were made by numerous other Republicans, The Hill reported:

“The long-awaited Durham Report confirmed what the American people already know; that individuals at the highest levels of government attempted to overthrow democracy when they illegally weaponized the federal government against Donald J. Trump,” House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik said.

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy said: “They took the entire country through this, impeachment, everything else when we knew the FBI never should have done this from the very beginning.”

Rep. Dan Crenshaw of the House Intelligence Committee stated that there must be consequences based on the report’s findings. “This report demonstrates how unelected, subversive actors at the highest levels of our government attempted to undermine a legitimately elected president they despised. “In order to remove Donald Trump from the White House, they weaponized a lie, knowing that the media would enthusiastically repeat it,” Crenshaw explained.

The individuals identified in Durham’s report could face severe consequences, such as imprisonment.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a Republican from Alabama, asserted that the alleged targeting of former President Donald Trump gives many Americans reason to mistrust future elections and governmental institutions and that perpetrators must be incarcerated.

“I mean, that’s all this was. They just did not like the fact that a political outsider had a legitimate shot at becoming president of the United States. One of the other things, too, from the report that stands out is that they continued this after President Trump was elected. What’s your response?” Newsmax host John Bachman asked Tuberville, Mediaite reported.

“Well, they don’t like, the swamp does not like any outsider whatsoever. And, you know, it’s just a shame people don’t go to jail for this. There’s a whole list of people that lied about this or some Congress people that lied about this,” Tuberville replied.

“And, oh, we’ve got Russia collusion information, which is the biggest problem I can’t go to. I can’t even talk about it. You know, it’s so bad. But if people don’t go to jail for this, American people should just stand up and say, ‘Listen, enough’s enough,’” he added.
