The disappearance of an American military aircraft over the eastern Mediterranean Sea was reported by U.S. European Command on Saturday.

According to a statement from the command, the aircraft collided during training operations.
It was stated that an investigation is underway into the cause, but there are no signs of hostile activity.
The command stated that no further information regarding the personnel involved would be disclosed out of respect for the affected families.
Initially, the military agency to which the aircraft belonged was obscure.
Additional squadrons have been deployed by the Air Force to the area, and the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, carrying a variety of aircraft, has also been conducting operations in the eastern Mediterranean.
