Former President Donald Trump lamented a “very sad day for America” in a statement he made in Washington, D.C., after entering a not guilty plea in relation to his indictment on January 6.
He condemned the condition of Washington, DC at the time and referred to the legal actions taken against him as political retaliation.
“Thank you very much. This is a very sad day for America. And it was also very sad driving through Washington, D.C. and seeing the filth and the decay and all of the broken buildings and walls and the graffiti,” Trump lamented, “And it was also extremely sad going through Washington, D.C. and seeing the filth and the ruin and all of the damaged buildings and walls and the graffiti. “This is not the place that I left. It’s a very sad thing to see it.”
After entering a not-guilty plea to charges related to attempts to manipulate the results of the 2020 presidential election, the former president made his remarks.
Trump’s assertion that the accusations against him were political retaliation resonated with a large number of his supporters. “This is political opposition persecution. This was never supposed to occur in the United States,” he said, adding that polls place him ahead of Joe Biden in both the general election and the Republican primary.
“So if you can’t beat him, you persecute him or you prosecute him. We can’t let this happen in America.”
Trump’s remark escalates the political conflict surrounding his indictment. Trump’s remarks about the trappings of Washington are also indicative of a broader decline in infrastructure and administration.
Now that Trump has entered his guilty plea, all eyes are on the impending legal battle, which promises to be intense and rife with political repercussions. The case, which was already notable because of the well-known defendant, continues to attract attention because of the parties’ vehement arguments.
Trump calmly said, “Thank you very much,” to end his remarks.
Thursday, Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him in relation to the events of January 6.
According to reports, Judge Chutkan will preside over the case’s first hearing, which is scheduled for August 28, less than two weeks from now. As is customary for arraignments, Judge Upadhyaya informed Trump that if he violated the conditions of his release, an arrest warrant would be issued, which could lead to his potential imprisonment.
In conjunction with the Special Counsel’s investigation into the January 6 incident at the Capitol, Trump was charged on Tuesday with four counts.
Trump stated publicly on Truth Social on Thursday that his imminent arrest serves the integrity of the American people. Trump stated that his persecution was part of a larger problem in America prior to his arrival in Washington, D.C.
In a post, Trump declared: “I am now going to Washington, D.C., to be arrested for having challenged a corrupt, rigged, & stolen election. It is a great honor, because I am being arrested for you. Make America Great Again!”
On Monday, Trump penned an explosive article for NewsWeek in which he lambastes his Democratic political opponents and describes the deep state’s war against him and all freedom-loving Americans.
This follows news that former President Obama visited Vice President Biden at the White House to warn him that Trump is more formidable than anyone realizes. Democrats are undoubtedly panicking about the situation.
Trump writes in Newsweek that he is not the victim of the “Russiagate hoax,” but rather the American people.
“The report by Special Counsel John Durham makes clear beyond a shred of doubt that the Russia Hoax was the most atrocious weaponization of our government in American history. It was a crime like no other,” Trump begins.
Seven years ago, I ran for office taking on all the most corrupt forces and entrenched interests in our nation’s capital. My agenda was an existential threat to a Washington establishment that got rich and powerful bleeding America dry.
I vowed to stop mass illegal immigration, terminate globalist trade deals, end the sellout of our country to Communist China, stand up to the permanent bureaucracy and the corporate media, and break the neocon addiction to endless foreign wars.
In response, an unelected cabal in the senior ranks of our government, in concert with their chosen candidate, Hillary Clinton, and their allies in the media, launched the de-facto coup attempt known as the Russia Hoax.
Their goal was to prevent my election, and failing that, to throw me out of office or sabotage my presidency, undercut my agenda in Congress, block my domestic reforms, and interfere with my foreign policy.
For nearly three years, they carried out a massive disinformation campaign and lawless persecution based on the monstrous lie that I was a traitor to my country.
These Deep State plotters spied on my campaign. They forged false evidence to get illegal surveillance warrants and smear innocent people through leaks to the media. They offered $1 million for a fictitious dossier written by a foreign spy to try to frame me with treason. They shattered countless lives.
