Candidate Shot At His Office in ‘Attempted Assassination’

Published on

Police say a person has been detained who they believe walked into a mayoral candidate’s office and fired shots.

The situation unfolded just after 10 a.m. on Monday at Butchertown Market on Story Avenue.

This is where Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg has an office. Metro Council President David James told WLKY that someone went into Greenberg’s office and fired multiple shots at him.

Both James and Chief Erika Shields say they believe the democratic candidate was the target. James called it an assassination attempt. Watch Shields’ update in the player above.

Shields said no one was hurt, but that a round did hit Greenberg’s clothes.

“We consider ourselves very fortunate today,” Shields said.

Several people, including Greenberg, were observed by our chopper being escorted out of the building, and he appeared to be fine. Watch aerials below.
