On Sunday, Chuck Todd, the presenter of “Meet the Press” who is adored by liberals and reviled by conservatives, made it official.
In his final episode as presenter of the long-running program about politics and current events, he passed the baton to his successor after nine years in the role.
And conservatives were glad to see him depart.
Todd, who announced his departure from the show in June, has spent years cultivating a reputation for taking leftist stances on virtually every issue and for being in the middle of the media pack when it came to attacking Republicans, including former President Donald Trump and his administration.
His final performance on Sunday was met with a chorus of criticism from conservatives who have followed him over the years. It was a particularly cruel departure gift to a “journalist” who could not have merited it more.

Chuck Todd is the worst host ever for Meet The Press. I do thank him for being the first person to open my eyes to media bias. I hadn’t noticed it until he took over for Tim Russert. https://t.co/Ijz9EJR3a0

The Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog organization, compiled Todd’s “greatest hits” in advance of the big day, which gives a fair indication of where the program has been during the Chuck Todd era:
Chuck Todd is departing Meet The Press after nearly a decade of promoting a radical left-wing agenda and campaigning for Democrats.

A highlight of Todd’s last day was, predictably, an interview with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who used the opportunity to campaign for President Joe Biden’s re-election.
“Well I think the vice president is naturally the one lined up, the filing deadlines are quickly coming to pass and I think we need to move past this notion that he’s not going to run, President Biden is going to run and I’m looking forward to getting him re-elected,” Newsom said, according to Fox News.
“There’s been so much wallowing in the last few months and hammering and even disrespect and we’re gearing up for the campaign and we’re looking forward to it,” he said.
In other terms, it was a classic interview with Todd.
As reported by Fox, Todd’s replacement is NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker.
In Sunday’s on-camera interview with Todd, Welker may have inadvertently hinted at the direction of the program in its post-Todd incarnation.
“You are someone who invests in the people that you care about and you have invested in me and I am so eternally grateful for that,” Welker told Todd, according to Fox.
“I’ve said it before, I think it bears repeating. You brought me to D.C., you taught me just about everything I know about politics.”
And that tells conservatives everything they need to know about the future of “Meet the Press.”
