Just two weeks after urging the Biden administration to discontinue working with Saudi Arabia, corrupt New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez is the subject of a federal criminal investigation — AGAIN.
Federal prosecutors are looking into Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., according to sources familiar with the situation who spoke to ABC News and were later verified by a senator’s adviser.
“The investigation is being conducted by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, the sources said. The exact nature of the investigation was not immediately clear,” according to ABC, which also stated:
“Senator Menendez is aware of an investigation that was reported on today, however he does not know the scope of the investigation. As always, should any official inquiries be made, the Senator is available to provide any assistance that is requested of him or his office,” said the adviser, Michael Soliman, in a statement provided to ABC News.
Semafor was the first to break the news.
Menendez, the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s chairman, was previously charged with corruption in April 2015 as a result of his association with Salomon Melgen, a Florida ophthalmologist.
Authorities charged Menendez with accepting nearly $1 million in campaign contributions and opulent gifts from Melgen in exchange for the political favors, including flights on Melgen’s private jet, first-class commercial flights, and a flight on a chartered jet; numerous vacations at Melgen’s villa in the Dominican Republic; and a hotel room in Paris. Several of Melgen’s girlfriends’ visa applications are allegedly supported by Menendez using his office.
His defense was not guilty. The charges were dropped in 2018 when the trial ended with a deadlocked jury.
Although Melgen was later found guilty of scamming Medicare patients, former President Donald Trump shortened his prison term during his final hours in office.
“According to CNN, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York is conducting the investigation into Menendez,” Jim Hoft reported for The Gateway Pundit, adding:
In October 2017 Democrat Senator Menendez went on trial for bribery. He faced a dozen criminal charges and was accused of accepting more than $700,000 in campaign related cash and thousands of dollars in free hotel rooms and air travel.
In the Dominican Republic, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Salmon Melgen attended sex parties, according to four hookers.
