Sunday morning, a series of explosions damaged three Washington, D.C., businesses. On Monday, police were still searching for the suspect.

The Metropolitan Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are attempting to identify a suspect and a vehicle spotted outside of one of the damaged businesses, according to a press release.

WUSA reports that police released a surveillance camera image of a gold or champagne-colored Acura TL with Maryland license plate 17971CK. A surveillance image captured an individual wearing a white parka at the site of the explosions.

Sunday at approximately 4:30 a.m., an incendiary device damaged an ATM at the Truist Bank on Washington Place in Northeast Washington, D.C., according to a police statement. According to police, the suspect escaped the site after the explosion.

Six minutes later, the same suspect allegedly detonated a device on the sidewalk outside the Nike store on H Street, Northeast. The suspect fled again after the explosion.

The third explosion occurred at 4:45 a.m.

Police said “the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail style object at the Safeway store located in the 300 block of 40th Street, Northeast then fled the scene in a vehicle.”

“In each of these offenses, it appears the suspect targeted commercial establishments and it does not appear the suspect was targeting any members of the public,” the statement said, noting that the businesses were closed and no injuries were reported.

The release stated that the MPD was offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction. According to the release, the ATF is also offering a $20,000 reward for a tip that leads to an arrest.

A individual who resides above the bank reported that the explosion woke him up.

“It shook my living room. It knocked all of my security cameras off the wall. It knocked my pictures off the wall. It pretty much rattled me,” the resident said, according to WRC-TV.

“It’s frightening, right? I don’t know what it is, if it’s a firework or something like that, but it’s definitely concerning,” Nike store customer Nour Hasan said.

“I am very much appalled by the incidents. I find it unsettling,” Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6C Commissioner Patricia Eguino said.

Fox Business reports that through May, violent crime in Washington, D.C. is 10 percent higher than the same period last year, with a 15 percent increase in fatalities.
