Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is taking a shot at Joe Biden’s handling of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

DeSantis stated that the perception of weakness emanating from the White House prior to Donald Trump’s election in 2016, as well as after he left office, did not persist during his presidency.
“My feeling is they haven’t done enough —Europe or Biden’s administration — to really hit Putin where it counts, and that’s because they have been so weak on domestic energy,” DeSantis said of Biden’s energy policies, which he said deprived the United States of the energy independence obtained during the latter years of President Trump’s administration.
“So let’s get back to where we need to get to back to. And I can tell you this. The media spent four years saying that Trump was some type of agent of Russia, and yet, when I was in Congress when Obama was president, Obama refused to send weapons to Ukraine,” DeSantis said, going on to offer a series of comparisons.
“When Trump was president, we sent weapons to Ukraine. Putin didn’t like that very much. When Obama was president, Putin took Crimea. When Trump was president, they didn’t take anything. And now Biden’s president, and they’re rolling into Ukraine.”
Following this, he explained the disastrous departure from Afghanistan, during which 11 Marines, an Army soldier, and a Navy corpsman were killed by a suicide bomber alongside 150 Afghans in addition to leaving behind hundreds of American soldiers and billions of dollars of equipment, sent the wrong signal to potential enemies of the United States.
“It was a total catastrophe, but it displayed the lack of leadership that Joe Biden is bringing to the table,” he said, and argued that the worst outcome wouldn’t be Afghanistan itself.
“Russia was watching that. China was watching that. Iran was watching that. That whetted the appetite of these dictators,” DeSantis claimed, adding that China and Iran would also continue to behave aggressively.
“So the weakness has really bred a lot of the disorder you’re seeing right now,” he continued.

Last week, DeSantis predicted that if Democrats retained control of Congress in the midterm elections in November, we may be back to the days of the pandemic.
“If they feel they need them,” he said on Friday at a Forum on American Energy in Doral, Fla., Democrats will reimpose COVID-19 restrictions on as much of the nation as can be.
“The minute those elections are over, they will impose mandates if they feel the need to do that. They will impose restrictions,” he warned.
“And so that will happen. If those types of people are allowed to be put in power, my view on that is, they’ve put Fauci in the witness protection program because he will say, you know, no, you should still wear a mask, and he’s never going to say be normal, go back to normal. So they know that, and they know that that’s not what people want.”
Furthermore, he predicted that blue state governors would reimpose pandemic restrictions this winter.
“There’s nothing wrong if on an individual basis you make a certain calculation. That’s fine. We encourage you to do that. But it’s wrong to mandate people and restrict people, and that will happen. I guarantee you, winter of 2022, any of those folks that are there, you are going to see that happen.”
“The only way to make sure it doesn’t happen is to have nice, big, red wave. So, we’ll see.”.
A week ago, DeSantis at a panel discussion with Florida Surgeon General Joesph Ladapo and several other medical experts called for the end of the regulations placed because of COVID.

“Over the past two years, the data has shown us what works and what doesn’t work. It is long past time to stop the COVID Theater.”
“In Florida, we told the truth, we let the data drive our response, and we let Floridians make decisions for themselves and their children. As a result, Florida is in a better spot than states who used fear-mongering and mandates.”
“In Florida, we won’t let them lock ya down, we won’t let them restrict you, we’re not gonna let them impose mandates, we’re not gonna let them close the schools,” DeSantis said in early December during a speech.

“We are gonna protect your freedom to make your decisions,” he proclaimed.
“It’s a free country, so when people are in bad environments – when you have states that don’t know how to fight crime, when you have states that are locking people down, mandating them, doing a lot of stupid things – people look for greener pastures.”
Earlier this week, Senator Rand Paul announced plans to introduce legislation to remove Fauci from his position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and redistribute his authority among three new institutes.
“To ensure that ineffective, unscientific lockdowns and mandates are never foisted on the American people ever again, I will introduce an amendment to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and divide his power into three separate new institutes,” Paul stated.
