A super PAC established to support Ron DeSantis with $50 million in contributions has disbanded due to the withdrawal of donors. Notably, the proprietor of this super PAC expressed displeasure with the Florida governor’s campaign, attributing it to inexperience, and subsequently proclaimed his intention to switch his support to Donald Trump.
In November, John Thomas, a prominent Republican strategist known for his political conflict expertise, launched a campaign titled “Ron to the Rescue.” This initiative effectively attracted the financial support of wealthy donors.
However, he stated that the financiers began to have doubts following the unsuccessful May introduction of the DeSantis campaign on Twitter Spaces.
The incident was the most recent setback for DeSantis, following Wednesday’s incident in which a tree fell on the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee during the passage of Hurricane Idalia. Casey DeSantis, the individual in question’s wife, and their three children were present in their residence at the time of the incident. Thankfully, none of the individuals involved were injured.
The Twitter Spaces incident involved an interview between DeSantis and Elon Musk on the prominent social media platform. However, the simulcast experienced numerous interruptions, allowing critics to portray the DeSantis campaign as lacking in competence.
In an interview with DailyMail.com, Thomas stated, ‘When DeSantis formally launched, we hoped to conduct a formal TV campaign of air support. The issue, however, is that almost immediately after the Twitter Spaces blunder, all of our significant donors said, “Let’s just see how this plays out.”
‘There is one singular important thing every national presidential candidate must do on their launch day, which is provide video to give to the television stations to project optically what your vision is for the future,’ he continued.
Thomas provided additional examples, including the act of sharing internal documents publicly on the internet and alluding to the agreement to debate California governor Gavin Newsom as ‘rookie s**t’ mistakes.
Prior to the introduction of Twitter Spaces, the strategist, who had experience in electoral campaigns in 49 states, had a substantial number of contributors who intended to provide seven- to eight-figure financial support in favor of DeSantis.
The Political Action Committee (PAC) allocated a modest sum of approximately $20,000 to grassroots initiatives designed to garner support for the governor.
There was never a moment that inspired donors with a sense of encouragement, such as a definitive opportunity.Thomas reported that everything had ceased to exist.
Andrew Romeo, the director of campaign communications for DeSantis, hailed the cessation of operations of Thomas’ alleged political action committee (PAC) as “welcome news,” alluding to it as the “Scam PAC.”
