Musk began his Twitter reign last week with a humorous allusion to himself as “Chief Twit,” but his Twitter page has taken on a darker tone.
Musk, who is now in the heart of a controversy over perceived changes at Twitter and major layoffs, has changed his location to “Hell.”
Musk has attempted to conduct a private war against disinformation by informing his followers that content filtering on the social media site is alive and thriving.
“Again, to be crystal clear, Twitter’s strong commitment to content moderation remains absolutely unchanged. In fact, we have actually seen hateful speech at times this week decline *below* our prior norms, contrary to what you may read in the press,” he wrote on Friday.

Musk fought back against the resentment his layoffs generated.
“Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required,” he wrote.

According to The New York Times, Twitter laid off around 3,700 employees, or just under half of its pre-Musk workforce.
Musk is being sued by employees who allege that his actions violate a federal statute requiring advance notification of mass layoffs.
According to a story in The Washington Post, steps done on the eve of Election Day have ruffled political feathers significantly due to the content filtering and layoff difficulties.
The Post said that a representative of a major political party informed them that Twitter’s response time has increased when the party wishes to report falsehoods. However, neither the party of the individual making the accusation nor its source were identified in the report.
