Elon Musk stated on Friday that the guy known as the “QAnon Shaman” should be released since a recently leaked video disproves the evidence against him. According to Musk, the “QAnon Shaman” became the public face of the 2021 Capitol invasion.
Jacob Chansley, donning a horned fur headpiece and red, white, and blue face paint, was one of the most photographed protestors on the day they stormed and roamed the Capitol. In November 2021, he was sentenced to 41 months in jail for his involvement in the events of that day after pleading guilty to one count of obstructing an official process.
According to the video evidence provided by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy with Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson, Chansley has reemerged at the forefront of the debate surrounding January 6, 2021.
Two specific excerpts involve Chansley. In one, he seems to be escorted past the Capitol by Capitol police who are not attempting to physically stop him.
In a second clip, he is seen and heard speaking to demonstrators outside the Capitol using a bullhorn, informing the audience that then-President Donald Trump wanted the protest to halt.
In light of this evidence, Musk’s conclusion was succinct: “Free Jacob Chansley.”

Musk later elaborated.
Musk tweeted, “I’m not part of MAGA, but I do believe in fairness of justice.”
“Chansley was falsely portrayed in the media as a violent criminal who tried to overthrow the state and who urged others to commit violence. But here he is urging people to be peaceful and go home. And the other video shows him calmly walking in the Capitol building, being escorted by officers and then thanking the officers,” he added.
