Former presidential agitator and former rousted adviser David Axelrod suggested that President Joe Biden might want to resign and allow another candidate to receive the nomination of his party.
Axelrod disseminated recent polling data from The New York Times on the social media platform X, which claims to indicate that one year prior to the 2024 presidential election, Biden is significantly trailing former President Donald Trump in several pivotal battleground states.
In Nevada, Biden trails Trump by nine points, while in Arizona and Pennsylvania he is ahead by four points, in Georgia by six, and in Michigan by five.
In Wisconsin, the same poll indicated Biden led by only two points.
Axelrod is arguably best recognized for his pivotal role in organizing Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. The individual in question maintained a workspace within the Obama White House until his unsuccessful re-election in 2011 to a president who was already making arrangements for his 2012 campaign, according to a report in Chicago Magazine concerning “The Message: The Reselling of Barack Obama,” a book authored by MSNBC commentator Richard Wolffe and devoted to the 2012 presidential election.
Although Axelrod, a former critic of Biden, did not explicitly urge him to withdraw from the campaign, he did firmly advise the beleaguered president to consider doing so.
“It’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm,” Axelrod wrote. “He’s defied [conventional wisdom] before but this will send tremors of doubt thru the party–not ‘bed-wetting,’ but legitimate concern.”

Axelrod, a CNN contributor, devalued Biden’s age and attacked Trump in three subsequent tweets.
“The greatest concern is that his biggest liability is the one thing he can’t change,” Alexrod tweeted. “Among all the unpredictables there is one thing that is sure: the age arrow only points in one direction.”

He also wrote, “The @POTUS is justly proud of his accomplishments. Trump is a dangerous, unhinged demagogue whose brazen disdain for the rules, norms, laws and institutions or democracy should be disqualifying. But the stakes of miscalculation here are too dramatic to ignore.”
In a final post on the matter, Axelrod concluded, “Only @JoeBiden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?”

According to a poll cited by Axelrod, The New York Times, in collaboration with Siena College, also discovered that 67 percent of registered voters hold the view that the nation is progressing in the incorrect direction.
A mere seven percent of the participants expressed complete lack of intention to participate in the 2024 election.
When polling all registered voters regarding their preferred candidate between Biden and the former president, Trump led by 48-44 percent.
From October 22 to November 3, the poll surveyed 3,662 registered swing state electors and estimated a margin of error of 1.8 percent.
