Peter Doocy, a White House correspondent for Fox News, claimed he took a few months off to care for his young daughter, Bridget.
Doocy took paternity leave in the late spring, after his wife, Fox News congressional correspondent Hillary Vaughn, resumed employment. He returned to work on Monday. The daughter of the couple was delivered on February 1.
In addition to sharing breathtaking photographs of the father and daughter, the White House correspondent waxed poetic about fatherhood. The new father spent much of his personal time playing with infant Bridget, even submerging her in a pool and daydreaming about her becoming the next president.
Peter’s colleague gave Doocy and Vaughn a pink onesie that read “Future President.”
“Keep an eye out for the Fox News Democracy 2060 coverage,” Doocy said.
Every morning at seven he would wake up, give her a bottle, and go for a walk. Sweet potatoes are presently one of the solid foods the neonate is consuming.
Doocy announced Bridget Blake Doocy’s birth via social media on February 9. In September, he and his fiancée made the announcement on “Fox & Friends” while his father, Steve Doocy, offered dishes from his cookbook.
During a press conference on January 3, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre joked that Doocy should name his daughter after her. Doocy replied that the couple would “under advisement” evaluate Jean-Pierre’s proposal.
On January 6, he also posted an Instagram photo of himself shouting a question at Vice President Joe Biden. The caption of the post read, “Mister President, What Should We Name Our Daughter?”
Doocy and his wife, Fox Business correspondent Hillary Vaughn, verified their status as first-time parents following the birth of their daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy. She was 21 inches tall and weighed 8 pounds and one ounce. According to reports, she is Vaughn, 32, and Doocy, 35,’s first child.
“Meet Bridget Blake Doocy!” tweeted Doocy. asked @joebiden at the White House holiday reception for advice on being a new father. He said to “hold her tight.” Yes, please.
PEOPLE magazine published exclusive photographs and an account of the joyful event.
“I didn’t realize this until now, but I’ve been training for motherhood my entire career by trying to get lawmakers on Capitol Hill to respond to my questions. This job isn’t much different,” Hillary, a Fox Business reporter, told PEOPLE. “‘Baby Bridget – can you give us a comment? Are you hungry or gassy, or both?’ Trying to get an on-the-record answer is tough!”
“I knew where all the offices were for senators who used to be doctors. Sen. Barrasso (Wyoming physician of the year) saw me the day before I went into labor and told me to reach out if I ever needed anything. Luckily, I didn’t have to call him to catch the baby!” Hillary continued. “I’ve only been a mom for one week but it’s already the best assignment I’ve ever had. She’s stolen the show!”
Prior to the birth of his daughter, Doocy disclosed to the publication some name suggestions he heard from the administration at previous news conferences.
“During a briefing last month, the press secretary gave me permission to name the baby Karine, and I joked we were considering naming the baby after the President: ‘Joe-sephine.’ But we can report here for the first time her name is Bridget Blake Doocy,” he told the magazine.
