Greta Thunberg, an environmental activist, has been accused with disobeying police instructions during a climate march in Malmö in June.
According to the authorities, a young woman who participated in a climate awareness march on June 19 has been charged. According to the prosecution, this rally disrupted Malmö’s traffic flow. The woman in issue, they continued, “did not heed the police directive to vacate the site.”
Although Thunberg’s name was not specifically mentioned in the statement, Swedish Legal Authorities spokesperson Annika Collin told CNN that Thunberg was the individual being discussed.
“The crime is classified as defiance to law enforcement. The prosecutor states that the act was performed deliberately,” the statement further added.
According to a statement from the legal authorities, Thunberg could face up to six months in jail or a fine.
These allegations stem from Thunberg’s participation in a protest organized by the activist group Ta Tillbaka Framtiden, which involved the blocking of oil tankers in a sector of the port of Malmo.
