President Biden returned to the White House early on Sunday following his four-day tour of the Middle East, during which he accused a Saudi official of lying about the topics discussed in his private meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while downplaying his infamous fist bump with the prince.

The photograph of the amicable fist bump elicited scathing criticism from the editor of the Washington Post and the widow of Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered in a brutal manner by bin Salman, according to US intelligence services.

Prior to Air Force One’s departure from Jeddah, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir said he ‘did not hear’ Biden question bin Salman, often known as MBS, about the death of writer Jamal Khashoggi.

Al-allegation Jubeir’s appears to directly contradict Biden’s version of his Friday conversation with MBS, in which the president stated that he had discussed Khashoggi’s murder “at the top of the discussion” and accused the crown prince of orchestrating the plan.

Biden said categorically “No” when asked on the South Lawn if al-Jubeir was speaking the truth about the encounter.

Khashoggi’s fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, described what she felt Khashoggi’s reaction to the fist bump would be: ‘Is this the accountability you promised for my murder? The blood of the next victims of Mohammed bin Salman is on your hands.

A reporter also read Cengiz’s remarks to Biden, and then requested the president’s answer.

‘I’m sorry she feels that way,’ the president answered. ‘I was straightforward back then. I was straightforward today.’

According to a Monday survey by the New York Times and Siena College, Biden’s popularity rating was 33%, and just 13% of Americans believed the country was moving in the right direction.

When speaking at the annual convention of UnidosUS, previously known as the National Council of La Raza, First Lady Jill Biden made the difficult comparison in an effort to commend the community and the efforts of civil rights hero Raul Yzaguirre.

Last week, the First Lady’s speech at another community event received some criticism online when she compared the San Antonio’s Latino community to ‘breakfast tacos.’

Biden’s office issued an apology on Tuesday for comparing the Hispanic community’s diversity to the breakfast tacos of San Antonio, Texas.

‘The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,’ her press secretary Michael LaRosa wrote on Twitter.

The gaffe came as President Biden’s popularity among Latino voters continues to plummet, as a recent Quinnipiac opinion poll found that Biden’s approval rating among young Hispanic voters is around 26 percent.

San Antonio is home to one of the largest Latino communities in the United States, with a population of nearly 1.5 million people that is 65 percent Hispanic or Latino, according to U.S. Census data.

Now this week, while President Biden was on his trip, The First Lady, 71, spoke at a fundraising event for the Democratic National Committee in Nantucket, Massachusetts, on Saturday, Daily Mail reported.

Jill Biden’s remarks included attempts to downplay the lack of success of the Biden administration. Her words come after a New York Times poll recently found 64 percent of Democratic voters would prefer a candidate other than Biden in 2024.

She noted that her own agenda was interrupted by unplanned events, as if unplanned events are a surprise.

‘I was saying to myself, ‘Okay, I was Second Lady. I worked on community colleges. I worked on military families. I’ve worked on cancer.’

‘They were supposed to be my areas of focus. But then when we got [in the White House,] I had to be, with all that was happening, the First Lady of the moment.’

Ms. Biden then excused her husband’s lack of success in the last two years.

‘[The President] had so many hopes and plans for things he wanted to do, but every time you turned around, he had to address the problems of the moment,’ she told donors at the event.

‘He’s just had so many things thrown his way,’ she added.

‘I know there are so many nay-sayers who say we’ll get slammed in the midterms. Okay. The Republicans are working hard, they stick together, for good or evil. So, we just have to work harder,’ Jill Biden said

During his presidency, Biden has faced, as do all presidents, a stream of issues such as Russia’s war in Ukraine, the pullout of troops from Afghanistan, rising inflation and the overturning of Roe v Wade, Daily Mail wrote.

Ms. Biden suggested the overturning of Roe v. Wade was a surprise as well.

‘Well, maybe we saw it coming, but still we didn’t believe it,’ she said.

She mentioned other surprises; ‘The gun violence in this country is absolutely appalling. We didn’t see the war in Ukraine coming.’
