Jim Jordan Puts Biden On Notice After FBI Makes Monumental Admission

According to the majority of House Republicans, the Justice Department and FBI have been used as political weapons against Americans and many of their political leaders.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, tweeted on Monday that “FBI Special Agent Elvis Chan appeared to make false statements under oath about the Bureau’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 presidential election,” according to The Daily Caller.

As the primary liaison between the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) and several social media corporations, Chan played a crucial role in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election. According to documents made public by Jordan, Chan misled about his interactions with computer companies regarding the Hunter Biden laptop narrative.

“Internal FB docs reveal that an FBI Special Agent made false statements in testimony about the FBI’s role in the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story,” Jordan tweeted Monday.

According to U.S. law, making a fraudulent statement while testifying before Congress is illegal.

Current FITF Section Chief Laura Dehmlow asserted that she and Chan met with Facebook on October 14, 2020, to discuss the Hunter Biden laptop story that had been reported by the New York Post around that time. In July, Dehmlow testified in front of Jordan’s committee.

When asked about the veracity of the data on Hunter Biden’s laptop, the FBI responded, “no comment.” Dehmlow claimed that the response was made in accordance with instructions from an unnamed FBI officer during internal deliberations regarding the laptop, which the organization was aware was authentic and not a piece of Russian propaganda prior to the publication of The Post’s findings.

“Did Dehmlow know that the FBI had the laptop and it was real? Yes. Did other key members of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force know? Yes. The FBI knew the laptop was real and yet decided it would say ‘no comment.’” Jordan said.

In November 2022, Chan testified in the censorship case Missouri v. Biden, which was brought by the Republican attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana. Throughout his testimony, Chan recalled the FITF’s conversation with Facebook, and he expressed his assurance that he had not attended any other meetings with internet corporations concerning the laptop.

“I was confident that I was not a party to any meeting with social media companies where Hunter Biden was discussed outside of the one incident that I told you about,” Chan said, according to his testimony.

Jordan discovered that Chan stated he was oblivious of any communications between FBI agents and Facebook regarding the Hunter Biden case, which was under investigation by lawmakers.

Jordan presented a Facebook internal document indicating that Chan and company representatives had a “follow-up” meeting on October 15, the day after the Hunter Biden story was suppressed and the FBI met with the social media site for the first time.

“The Committee has recently obtained an internal Facebook document PROVING that Agent Chan had a secret “follow up” call with Facebook about the Hunter Biden laptop story on October 15,” Jordan wrote on the “X” platform in a post containing a screengrab of the document.

“COMPLETELY FALSE,” Jordan noted in all caps in his thread.

Chan stated that he had “no internal knowledge” of the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigation, which Jordan cited as an additional inconsistency in Chan’s testimony. According to internal communications made public by the Ohio Republican, Chan had in fact informed Facebook officials about the FBI investigation involving Hunter Biden.

“Chan advised that he was up to speed on the current state of the matter within the FBI and that there was no current evidence to suggest any foreign connection or direction of the leak,” a Facebook employee said on Oct. 15, 2020.
