According to Variety, Joy Behar has been considering quitting the program when her contract expires in the summer.

Variety stated in April 2020 that Behar first discussed her retirement plans in an interview for the nonfiction book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View.”

“I have a three-year contract,” Behar said in her book, which was published for the first time in 2019. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t leave if I want to, because they can’t really do anything to me at this point.

“I don’t see myself staying for more [time]. That’s it! I could be wrong. If I’m as fabulous in [2022] as I am now, I’ll think about. But the chances of that happening… You know, time marches on. I’m not a kid.”

Multiple social media users have expressed joy and pleasure at the prospect of her departure now that her contract is reaching its conclusion.

“@JoyVBehar thank Goodness [you’re] leaving the view but your negativity and reputation will always stay a part of you,” one social media user wrote. “What derogatory statements you make are a reflection of who you are and not of the people you talk about.”

As harsh as it may sound, Behar has gained notoriety for her wild outbursts about those she dislikes. In her most recent example, she claimed on Monday that, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, she wished to leap out of an airplane and land on the court.

In May 2020, Behar referred to former President Donald Trump as a “repugnant racist” and said that anyone who supports him may also be a racist.

This unfortunate inclination to attack or threaten everyone with whom she disagrees is a major reason why so many people rejoiced at the news of her retirement.

When rumors about Behar’s likely retirement in 2020 began to circulate, an ABC spokesman sought to dispel the notion.

“This is not true,” the representative said. “Joy was asked what happens at the end of her contract and as she herself made clear in the interview, if she’s ‘as fabulous in [2022] as I am now,’ she will be in her seat at the table.

Many people find Behar’s hatred and hostility to be anything but “fantastic.” Taking her hateful remarks off the air may not be the worst thing that could happen.
