The judge assigned to the legal conflict between former President Donald Trump and the Department of Justice has issued her first order since being assigned to the case.
Thursday, CNN reported that U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon ordered the counsel in the case to procure the necessary security clearances due to the sensitivity of the matter.

“In a Thursday order, Cannon gave ‘all attorneys of record and forthcoming attorneys of record’ a Friday deadline for getting in touch with the Justice Department’s litigation security group so that they can expedite ‘the necessary clearance process,’” the network’s Tierney Sneed reported.
Each attorney in the case was given until Tuesday to comply with the judge’s order.
Sneed disclosed As of Thursday evening, Trump attorneys Todd Blanche and Chris Kise had done so.
Tuesday in Miami, the former president and leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 pleaded not guilty to 37 counts related to the alleged mismanagement of classified documents.
The case was filed against Trump last week by special counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed to investigate the former president’s alleged storage and handling of classified documents.
Smith, whose wife directed a documentary about former first lady Michelle Obama and also donated to Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland last year. Smith’s wife directed a documentary about former first lady Michelle Obama.
In August 2022, the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in pursuit of classified documents. He was selected to oversee the investigation.
Ten months later, the Department of Justice charged the former president with multiple felonies and Espionage Act violations.
