A judge in Arkansas is forcing Hunter Biden to address questions about his lucrative art sales. He has no option in the matter.
CNN reports that the troubled heir of former President Joe Biden was ordered to appear in a June deposition during a Monday hearing.
During the hearing, which was conducted in the context of litigation regarding Hunter Biden’s child support payments, Independence County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer accused the younger Biden’s legal team of excessive opacity.
“The ability to redact is being somewhat abused,” Meyer said of Hunter Biden’s financial filings in the case.
The president’s surviving son attended the hearing in person at a courthouse in Arkansas.

Meyer ordered Hunter’s attorneys to resubmit his financial documents with additional, unredacted information regarding his income and expenses.
In his June deposition, Hunter will likely be required to answer inquiries under oath regarding the sale of his expensive personal artwork.
During the proceedings, deposition witnesses are required to answer inquiries truthfully while under oath.
Failure to do so constitutes perjury.
The younger Biden’s art transactions have been criticized as breaches of presidential ethics, allowing the affluent and well-connected to potentially secure influence in the Biden White House through the purchase of Hunter’s artwork.
His art transactions follow a lengthy history of dubious business dealings with foreign governments and corporations.
Hunter Biden filed a petition in September to reduce his child support payments to Lunden Roberts, potentially cutting off the mother of his child.
Monday, CNN reported that the Democratic insider’s attorneys disclosed that he currently pays Roberts $20,000 per month in child support.
A scheduled civil trial in June will determine whether Hunter Biden’s child support obligation to Roberts will be reduced.
It is unknown whether the publicity-averse younger Biden will appear for the scheduled deposition or attempt to resolve his child support dispute with Roberts.
Hunter Biden is still the subject of a federal investigation, with prosecutors considering possible charges for gun and tax violations.
