Claudia Conway, daughter of prominent advisor to President Donald Trump Kellyanne Conway, made headlines this week after announcing her intention to work as an online Playboy model.

The 18-year-old, who has used social media for years to criticize Republicans and President Trump despite the fact that her mother, Kellyanne, once worked for Trump, launched a subscription page on Playboy.com. She posted images of herself posing in bikinis, some of which can be viewed for free on the platform and others of which can be viewed for between $5 and $99 each.

This week, Claudia released a statement explaining her decision.

“The only comment i’ll provide: when i was 15-16, i was exploited by the media, preyed upon, and was forced into portraying myself as something i wasn’t. my body was taken from me. now, as a young adult, i am aiming to reclaim my womanhood and femininity in a way that is truly mine. i am putting myself out there in a way that is MY OWN and no one else’s. i have full control of my body and my voice. i believe in writing your own narrative, like i’ve said in the past, and taking back what was once unjustly taken from you. autonomy and freedom are two things everyone should have. don’t let someone capitalize off of your vulnerabilities— reclaim them.”

There was a wide variety of reactions to her message, with one of the most popular mocking her. One Twitter user said she was “owning the media who tried to turn you into a circus sideshow by turning yourself into a circus sideshow. This outcome is *exactly* what they wanted!”

Kellyanne and George Conway have now separated following the announcement of their divorce in March.

George is a Never-Trump attorney who helped co-found the Lincoln Project, an organization that is also opposed to Trump, and Kellyanne was the president’s erstwhile adviser.

Claudia, who identifies as a left-leaning political activist, frequently made headlines when she used social media to disparage Trump and her mother, who was then employed by the Trump administration.

The news broke in August 2020 when the adolescent announced on social media that she was “officially pushing for emancipation” from her parents.

In January 2021, Claudia accused her mother of using Twitter’s now-discontinued Fleets feature to upload an image of her without a top.

Claudia told Bustle in December 2022 that she did not believe her mother uploaded the photo that Kellyanne discovered while searching through her phone on purpose.

“My mother helped me through it. She helped me clear it from the internet. So I wholeheartedly don’t think she posted it,” Claudia said, adding that she believed her mother’s phone was hacked. “But it was extremely traumatic.”

In March, George and Kellyanne announced their separation.

“We married more than two decades ago, cherish the many happy years (and four corgis) we’ve shared, and above all else, our four incredible children, who remain the heartbeat of our family and our top priority,” the couple said.

“We remain united as parents to provide love, joy, comfort, and protection to our beautiful children,” it added.

Kellyanne has previously claimed that her husband’s outspoken criticism of Trump while she was working for the president was a significant factor in the dissolution of her marriage.

“Beltway insiders tell us that they’ve both lawyered up and that the two sides are hashing out the details of the split,” according to Page Six.
