At least one community member scrutinizes the president’s vacation residence in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
During their August vacation, Biden and his family stayed at a mansion owned by Democratic megabillionaire donor Tom Steyer.
The Nevada Globe confirmed that a local resident lodged a complaint with Douglas County on Monday regarding the lakefront mansion’s use as a vacation rental.
Ernie Strehlow, manager of the Douglas County Vacation Home Rental Program, subsequently revealed that the county was investigating a potential misuse of the property.
Douglas County requires a license for the use of a residence as a vacation home.
There is no evidence that the property in question was licensed as such, and Steyer could be subject to a sanction of $20,000 as a result.
The White House indicated that Biden was renting the residence at “fair market value,” according to the San Francisco Gate.
Quick math: Steyer bought the home for $15M in '07, so today it's worth $22.7M. The most expensive rental in Lake Tahoe area is an $11.4M house going for $25K per month. So, fair market value for Steyer's home would be $50K per month, or $12.5K per wk. https://t.co/6js8EueO1g

Biden has previously taken complimentary vacations at the residences of extremely wealthy Democratic Party donors.
1/If true that @POTUS Biden is paying to stay there, it would be first time ever, as he has repeatedly stayed for free at donors' mansions with owners not there & never disclosed on his report. Media has never reported except @nypost @stevennelson10 https://t.co/gmQN6EZSfR https://t.co/C47wZiktTm

The license may have been overlooked because Steyer, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion, likely did not need to rent out the $18 million property and, as a result, had no need to do so.
Originally, the vacation of the Biden family was cut short to accommodate the president’s visit to Hawaii in the wake of devastating wildfires in the state.
Nevertheless, Biden returned to Nevada on Tuesday after spending the weekend in the islands.

Steyer ran for president as a Democrat in the 2020 election, having previously funded an ad campaign advocating for the impeachment of then-President Donald Trump.
