A prosecutor in North Carolina has stated that charges will be filed against a Trump supporter whose campaign sign was vandalized.
According to WRAL, the “Trump Won” sign of prominent Republican industrialist John Kane was booted by a male cyclist and then set on fire a few days later.
Kane possessed footage of the incidents.
Monday, Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman announced that the man will be charged with a misdemeanor in relation to the incident.
According to the News & Observer, Freeman stated that the suspect will be charged with two counts of misdemeanor damage to real property.
Freeman stated that she could not identify the suspect publicly until he was duly served.
Kane had posted a reward offer on X, formerly known as Twitter, for information leading to an arrest.

Some suggested a misdemeanor charge was too little.
Should be felonious arson as the lowlife committed trespass in the process of burning a political sign. https://t.co/WPZakPE4l0

Kane indicated his displeasure with the accusations in a video he uploaded to Rumble.
“This man could have killed my children,” he said.
“By way of your actions in this instance, you deserve no respect, and you are certainly not doing what’s right,” he said in the video, addressing Freeman.
In the video, he stated that he believed the suspect should be charged with arson.
“He didn’t give a damn. Neither do you,” he said in the video still addressing Freeman. “You’re no better than him.”
“The audacity of that is frightening,” Kane told WRAL after his sign was destroyed. “There are lots of signs I see I don’t care for. But I’ve not set one on fire.”
He also noted that he quickly replaced the sign.
