We are aware that Joe Biden and the Democrats are willing to wreak havoc on our nation and energy independence for the sake of a radical climate agenda.
They demonstrated this in a document unintentionally issued by the Department of the Interior on Friday; a message that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is understandably furious about.
In a report from late last year, former Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Director Amanda Lefton admitted that charging fossil fuel firms less to drill in the 958,202 acres in the Cook Inlet off the coast of Alaska would increase the nation’s energy security.
Lefton wrote in the memo, “If a Cook Inlet prospect would be developed, there would be additional government revenues and greater energy security for the State of Alaska, especially if development of natural gas resources in the Cook Inlet ameliorated the long-term supply challenges facing the Anchorage area.”
Lefton stated that charging drillers a royalty charge of 16,67 percent will increase the number of bids and “be more likely to facilitate expeditious and orderly development of [offshore] resources.”
Nonetheless, she did not suggest it. Why?
“Nevertheless, because of the serious challenges facing the Nation from climate change and the impact of [greenhouse gasses] from fossil fuels, BOEM is not recommending this option since it would not include an appropriate surcharge to account for those impacts,” she continued.
Lefton’s specifically recommended the federal government charge drillers with a royalty fee of 18.75%….
In other words, they desired to increase all fees in order to punish and penalize the enterprises in accordance with their agenda, despite the fact that this would delay good growth, harm our energy security, and harm the residents of the region.
Despite knowing the facts, Assistant Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis of the Department of the Interior agreed with the increased price “because this rate constitutes the most reasonable balancing of environmental and economic factors for the American public.” She did not highlight the memo’s acknowledgment that the alternative lower fees would have increased energy security.
So, what was the outcome? One bid was received for one parcel. Nonetheless, the White House canceled that event. According to Sen. Joe Manchin, the transaction was mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act (D-WV). He expressed shock at the memo’s admissions. CONTINUE READING…
