Thursday, Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced that she would file articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, citing his alleged inability to enforce immigration laws and failure to defend the southern border.
“It is with the highest amount of solemnity that I announce my intention to introduce articles of impeachment today on the head of this America-at-last Executive Branch that has been working since January 20th, 2021, to systematically destroy this country: the President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden,” she remarked at a press briefing on Thursday.
Her comments follow the revocation of the Title 42 order, which had authorized U.S. border agents to expeditiously remove migrants from countries known to be a source of communicable diseases. Prior to the order’s expiration, United States Customs and frontier Protection officers at the southern frontier encountered approximately 211,000 unlawful immigrants in the month of April alone. During the week preceding the expiration of Title 42 in May, law enforcement officials reported record-breaking numbers, with daily interactions reportedly exceeding 10,000.
Greene continued by enumerating a lengthy list of allegedly impeachable offenses committed by law enforcement officials. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Matthew Michael Graves, has allowed “67 percent of arrests to go unprosecuted,” including many violent felonies. “The FBI has become Joe Biden’s personal police force,” according to Christopher Wray, director of the FBI. Attorney General Merrick Garland oversees the “Department of Injustice” and instituted a “two-tiered justice system” to investigate “anyone from parents who investigate their local school boards to former president Donald J. Trump.” Greene asserted that Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, facilitated the “complete invasion of our country by deliberately flooding our nation with drugs, terrorists, and illegal aliens.”
Greene held back a great deal of ammunition until the conclusion of her justification for a move to impeach President Biden.
“Joe Biden has deliberately compromised our national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure our border, allowed approximately six million illegals from over 170 countries to invade our country, deprive border patrol of the necessary resources and policies sufficient to protect our country. And his administration has willfully refused to maintain operational control as required by the law,” Green said.
The Georgia congresswoman has been a constant source of frustration for Vice President Joe Biden’s administration. She brought a white balloon to the House floor during the president’s state of the union address in what appeared to be a reference to a Chinese surveillance balloon that had invaded American airspace at the time. She has stated that she has a “staggering” amount of evidence that Hunter Biden was involved in schemes to enrich foreign companies, and she has claimed to possess this evidence. Due to her prominence within the conservative constituency, many have begun to speculate that President Trump will select her as his campaign mate in the 2024 election.
The White House has entirely disregarded Greene’s declaration.
