Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has introduced articles of impeachment against Christopher Wray, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In the articles, Greene charged that, “Director Wray has failed to uphold his oath and has instead overseen a denigration of the principles of our democratic republic by utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Federal police force to punish or intimidate anyone who questions or opposes the current regime.”
Recent revelations indicating widespread violations of Americans’ constitutionally protected civil rights, the targeting of political opponents, and other allegations of partisan or criminal behavior have placed the president’s appointee and his agency under scrutiny.
“Under [Wray’s] watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, & entrapped Americans who have been deemed enemies of the Biden regime. Wray has turned the FBI into Joe Biden and [Attorney General] Merrick Garland’s personal police force.” a statement by Greene read.
She accused Wray of employing “Soviet-style tactics” to target ordinary Americans who oppose the policies of President Joe Biden.
The articles continue: “Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on August 2, 2017, Director Wray has willingly refused to ensure that the laws passed by Congress and signed by the President are faithfully executed.”
Charges of Misconduct
In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which the Supreme Court invalidated the federal right to abortion, she cited whistleblower allegations that the FBI had created a “threat tag” to target pro-life individuals and organizations.
Catholic pro-life stance In September 2022, the FBI raided the residence of Matthew Houck for preventing access to an abortion doctor.
The FBI went after so-called “radical traditionalist Catholics,” or “RTCs,” according to additional claims made by a whistleblower and supported by leaked documents. According to the disclosed documents, Latin Mass and traditional Catholic congregations served as secure havens for “white supremacism” and the FBI planned to station informants in these churches.
The FBI violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) by conducting over 3,3 million unauthorized inquiries on American citizens in 2021, according to a required public audit.
There are also allegations that the FBI encouraged illicit activity. There were reportedly as many as 12 FBI operatives involved in a conspiracy to abduct Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2021. These operatives organized and encouraged men to carry out the scheme.
After conducting an unusual search on the residence of President Donald Trump, the FBI came under greater scrutiny. Trump’s access to confidential documents allegedly prompted the operation.
Greene noted that no such action has been taken against Biden, despite the fact that it has been revealed that he, too, inappropriately stored classified documents.

“Not only has Director Wray persecuted political opponents in an unprecedented and partisan way, but he has also overseen his agency take actions to shield and protect the current President and his family. A senior FBI official left the agency under a cloud of accusations that he shielded a laptop belonging to the President’s son, Robert Hunter Biden, from a criminal probe,” Greene stated, citing claims that the FBI attempted to conceal the truth regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop.
On the laptop, the president’s son is depicted engaging in a lengthy list of potential offenses, including what appears to be crack cocaine use.
The laptop also revealed information regarding the senior Biden’s financial dealings, including those he conducted while serving as vice president.
However, the FBI has decided not to file charges against either Biden. At a certain point, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) was informed by an FBI representative that the FBI was oblivious of the laptop’s location.
“It is unacceptable for the FBI Director or any civil officer to exercise his power in a way that targets one political class while doing favors for the other,” declared Greene. “Christopher Wray needs to be impeached.”

The attempt to impeach Wray comes at a time when Washington is focused on raising the debt ceiling, which must occur shortly to avoid a U.S. default.
In regards to impeachment, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has already stated, “we’re not going to be political.” Consequently, it is unknown whether the speaker will endorse Greene’s proposal.
Additional Impeachment Articles
Republicans have also called for the removal of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, citing allegations that he mismanaged the border. Greene and Arizona Republican Representative Andy Biggs are among those calling for Mayorkas’ impeachment. Additionally, Greene filed articles of impeachment against District of Columbia US Attorney Matthew Graves. McCarthy appears unwilling to commit to these initiatives.
If McCarthy agrees, the articles may advance swiftly through the House, but the Senate would present a greater challenge.
Wray would be tried for the allegations in the Senate. Prior to Wray’s removal from office, sixty senators must vote in favor of his conviction. Democrats, who have been anxious to defend Wray and the FBI against claims of weaponization by the Republican Party, are likely opposed to the notion.
Democrats will attempt to use the bureau against patriots in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, as they seek to establish socialist one-party governance in the United States.
