McCarthy Believes Matt Gaetz ‘Belongs in Jail’ – Florida Man Hits Back at Kevin’s ‘Fragile Ego’

Republican congressional feuds end tragically.

Rep. Matt Gaetz was the target of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s most scathing criticisms in remarks provided to Politico in a late November interview.

“You have a cross-section,” the dethroned former speaker of the House of Representatives from Florida stated.

“You have Gaetz, who belongs in jail, and you have serious members.”

The grounds upon which McCarthy considers Gaetz to be incarcerated remain somewhat ambiguous.

The latter played a crucial role in the October removal of McCarthy from his position as speaker.

In a Sunday Fox News appearance, the former speaker indicated that an ethics complaint against Gaetz could lead to his demise, comparable to the expulsion of former New York Representative George Santos.

McCarthy has previously fired upon Gaetz following the speaker’s gavel being lost.

Soon after being demoted to the rank and file of the House, the California Republican cited the “crazy eight led by Gaetz” as the source of disorder within the Republican caucus.

Gaetz, never one to yield to his opponent’s scathing verbal remarks, retorted with his own fiery language.

“Tough words from a guy who sucker punches people in the back.”

Gaetz made reference to a November incident in which McCarthy faced allegations of elbowing Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett.

“The only assault I committed was against Kevin’s fragile ego.”

The Washington Post reports that Burchett is one of the eight Republicans who were successful in removing McCarthy from his speakership.

McCarthy, according to sources within Congress cited by The New York Times, is contemplating a departure from the House of Representatives in the near future.
