Musk Goes OFF on Biden DHS disinformation board formation

A recent announcement from President Biden and his administration has many free speech defenders alarmed, and it took place just days after Elon Musk purchased the Twitter platform in an attempt to restore free speech.

According to Fox News, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in testimony on Wednesday that the administration has created a Disinformation Governance Board to combat online disinformation, led by Rob Silvers and Jennifer Gaskill, deputy general counsel.

“The goal is to bring the resources of the department together to address this threat,” the secretary told Congress members.

“I just read a very interesting study that underscores the importance of the point that you make, the spread of mis- and disinformation in minority communities specifically, and we are focused on that in the context of our CP3 and other efforts, and I’d be pleased to share more,” he remarked.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated the administration supports the new board at a press briefing.

“Secretary Mayorkas said that part of its intention was to tackle misinformation in Hispanic communities especially. Can you give us an idea of what this board is going to be doing, what their authority would look like?” asked White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

“I really haven’t dug into this exactly. I mean, we, of course, support this effort, but let me see if I can get more specifics. We know that there has been a range of disinfo out there about a range of topics — I mean, including COVID, for example, and also elections and eligibility. But I will — I will check and see if there’s more specifics,” Psaki stumblingly answered.

“There’s been some criticism of the person who’s been chosen to oversee this board. Her previous comments described the Hunter Biden laptop as a “Trump campaign product,” seemingly discrediting its validity – or the validity of the reporting surrounding it.

“How can you assuage concerns of people who are looking at this person who’s been appointed to this position and wondering if she’s going to be able to accurately judge misinformation now that a lot of that reporting has been proven to be factual in some ways?” Heinrich asserted.

“Well, I don’t have any comments on the laptop.

“But what I can tell you is that it sounds like the objective of the board is to prevent disinformation and misinformation from traveling around the country in a range of communities. I’m not sure who opposes that effort, and I don’t know who this individual is, so I have no comments on it specifically,” Psaki replied.

The critics belittled, or sneered at, what they called the “Ministry of Truth.”

When Steven Crowder tweeted about the news, Musk replied that it was “discomforting.”

“The government is creating a misinformation governance board. Who else did something like that? Oh I remember, the Nazi’s. And there’s some data showing some interesting things going on post-@elonmusk’s Twitter takeover!” Crowder posted.

After Tom Fitton, the President of Judicial Watch tweeted, “”Ministry of Truth” is trending because Biden admin appointed a radical leftist to run a censorship board in the Department of Homeland Security a few days after @ElonMusk purchase of @Twitter announced.”

Musk replied, “This is messed up”

“The Administration that activated the FBI against parents at school board meetings now has created a government Disinformation Board to monitor all Americans’ speech. It’s a disgrace. Joe Biden & Secretary Mayorkas: dissolve this monstrosity immediately,” Senator Josh Hawley tweeted.

“Adolf Hitler had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Goebbels had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Stalin had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Biden has a Ministry of Truth,” remarked Errol Webber, a Republican Congressional candidate.

“They didn’t place Biden’s Ministry of Truth under the Federal Trade Commission. They placed it Under the Department of Homeland Security. If that doesn’t chill you to the bone, you are not paying attention,” posted John Cardillo.

“Now that the Biden regime has a Ministry of Truth, what’s next? Re-education camps?” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene postulated.

Fox News hosts also blasted Biden’s new disinformation board.

Brian Kilmeade and Sean Hannity called it something out of George Orwell’s dystopian novel, 1984.

Kilmeade began his monologue with “Orwell’s book was meant as a warning to the world that this kind of society could become reality… if the wrong people were in charge,” as he filled in for Jesse Watters during the 7 p.m. broadcast. “But it looks like the Biden administration is taking Orwell’s work not as a warning but as their own manual.”

As Tucker Carlson did throughout the week, Kilmeade said liberals are very concerned about Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter.

He said Democrats “have lost their grip over the one thing that helped them win in 2020 more than anything else, perhaps: control over Big Tech,” Kilmeade remarked. “So now they’re desperate and they’re willing to do anything to hold on to this power… even if it means creating a state-led censorship division.”

“Ministry of Truth” was the name that Hannity gave to the disinformation board.

Hannity started by saying that Democrats “don’t seem to care about the First Amendment—only when it perfectly aligns with their own values.” He went on that the DHS board, “is wrong, it is creepy, it is dangerous, it is 1984-ish, and it is yet another example that shows the Democrats’ real problem is with the concept of freedom itself.”
