Musk already has a contingency plan if Big Tech tries to suppress his vision for Twitter.
Musk said that he will begin manufacturing his own smartphone if Apple and Google remove Twitter from their separate app stores.
Musk tweeted as such in response to conservative pundit Liz Wheeler on Friday.
If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?

Big Tech has previously prohibited platforms from being downloaded from its public app shops.
Some deletions have been virtually unmistakably linked to content restriction practices and political motives.
After the incident on January 6, 2021, Parler was removed from both Apple’s and Google’s app stores before being reinstated at a later date.
Other applications, including Gab, were never allowed for download on the app stores of the Big Tech corporations.
Musk’s attempt to strengthen Twitter’s protections for free speech and reinstate the accounts of certain users removed from the service has aroused fears that Big Tech may restrict Twitter’s app store status.
The application remains downloadable on both Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android phone.
Such underhanded attempts at censorship by these firms would be prevented by a phone unaffected by Big Tech.
