Friday, the Pentagon disclosed that a second Chinese surveillance balloon had been sighted in the Western Hemisphere.
“We are seeing reports of a balloon transiting Latin America. We now assess it is another Chinese surveillance balloon,” Pentagon spokeswoman Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in an interview with Fox News on Friday night.
The statement was made in the midst of outrage about a Chinese surveillance balloon that had been spotted earlier in the week above Montana.
A spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated on Friday that the balloon was an off-course civilian airship.
However, a senior U.S. official told Fox News that the flight path over the United States was “intentional.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken postponed his trip to China due to the balloon incident.
According to the Guardian, Blinken stated on Friday that he met with Wang Yi, China’s top diplomat, and “made clear that the presence of this surveillance balloon in U.S. airspace is a clear violation of U.S. sovereignty and international law.”
Blinken stated, “the United States is committed to diplomatic engagement with China and that I plan to visit Beijing when conditions allow.”
“The first step is getting the surveillance asset out of our airspace. That’s what we’re focused on,” he said.
Joe Biden has just given the “okay” for Chinese spy balloons to fly all over our nation.
Now there’s one flying over Latin America, too.
Have we ever looked weaker?
