The former residence of radio luminary and conservative, Rush Limbaugh, is being demolished.
In March, cosmetics tycoon William P. Lauder purchased the 2.6-acre estate from the radio host’s widow, Kathryn Adams Limbaugh.
The sale price of the oceanfront property in Palm Beach, Florida, set a new record for the city.
According to USA Today, a demolition crew has been dismantling the house for the past week.
Lauder appears to have purchased the property in order to construct his own custom residence on the high-value parcel of land.
Mark Levin, a conservative radio and television personality, took to Twitter shortly after the news broke.
“I spent some time at Rush’s home. Sorry to see it demolished,” Levin wrote. “I suppose it was a matter of when not if.”

Many of Levin’s followers shared their thoughts in response to the incident.
“I hate that. They tear down beautiful homes that have the character of the area and put up modern buildings with no character at all. It’s sad,” one user wrote.

This is not the first time Lauder has bought an opulent Palm Beach property only to demolish it.
In 2022, Lauder reportedly demolished a $110 million mansion located directly across the street from Limbaugh’s former residence.
After combining the estate with an adjacent vacant lot he had acquired, Lauder reportedly sold the land for $200 million.
It was “the most expensive vacant property ever listed for sale in Palm Beach,” according to USA Today.
