The relative of a mentally unstable vagrant who perished following a subway altercation with Marine Corps veteran Daniel Penny was arrested one day after urging prosecutors to reject any plea agreement with Penny.

Christopher Neely was taken into custody late Monday night, according to reports from the New York Post. This 44-year-old individual is the uncle of Jordan Neely, who died on May 1 after being detained while riding the New York City metro.

Christopher Neely has demanded that Alvin Bragg, the progressive district attorney in Manhattan, prosecute Penny to the utmost extent of the law.

“He needs to be prosecuted or he will do it again,” he told the Post on Sunday.

Neely stated, “It’s a smack in the face for Jordan’s family and the people of New York.”

Penny is being accused with manslaughter in relation to the incident that occurred in the metro.

During what witnesses described as a potentially hazardous outburst on the F train in New York City, the veteran was one of many commuters who restrained Jordan Neely.

Penny’s restraint of Neely, who was violently threatening other commuters, was cited as being in the best interest of everyone’s safety on board the train. This action was lauded as being in the best interest of the train passengers.

According to the Post, the New York Police Department’s pickpocketing unit arrested the elder Neely on Monday for allegedly stealing purses from restaurants. The detention occurred as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to sources familiar with the arrest, he fought with police officers as he was being brought into detention, according to the article.
