Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, reinstated former President Donald Trump’s banned Twitter account following a 24-hour public poll that attracted more than 15 million participants.
Invoking the Latin phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” Musk declared that the 45th president’s account will be restored back online less than 30 minutes after the poll finished.
When Trump’s Twitter account returned, all of his prior tweets, which had ceased in January 2021 when his account was originally suspended, were made available. In the comment sections of numerous of his previous tweets, particularly the most recent or “newest” message on his Twitter feed, something unusual began to occur.
“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” Trump tweeted on Jan. 8, 2021.
To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.

After a new wave of retweets, this tweet became viral and was immediately swamped with words of support. Numerous Twitter users and, presumably, his supporters greeted the president’s return to the site with enthusiasm.

Both the short and lengthy versions of the identical message repeated deep down the line of answers to Musk’s almost two-year-old tweet, demonstrating that he made the correct decision by restoring Trump’s account.
Others, though, responded to Trump’s latest tweet with a bit of humor, with many congratulating Musk for bringing to fruition what had looked improbable only weeks prior. A spoof of Trump presenting Musk the Presidential Medal of Freedom was posted on Twitter.

The question is whether or not the former president will continue to utilize his Twitter account. He has claimed several times, even in recent days, that if his account were to be reactivated, he would likely still pass and remain on Truth Social.
During a virtual appearance at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership gathering, Trump was asked if he would return to Twitter if Musk reopened his account. According to The Times of Israel, he praised Musk’s acquisition of the platform but dismissed the chance of a return.
“I don’t see any reason for it. There are a lot of problems in Twitter, you see what’s going on,” Trump said. “They may or may not make it but the problems are terrible. The engagements are negative. And you have a lot of bots and you have a lot of fake accounts.”
However, many feel that with 86.5 million followers on Twitter (at the time of writing) and rising, the temptation to resume tweeting is just too high, especially considering the reach he would have compared to his Truth Social account, which has around 4.6 million followers.
