For over a century, TIME magazine has honored individuals and concepts that have altered the world. A tradition that began in 1927, the awards have been widely anticipated as the world ponders who has made the greatest contribution over the last year.
Back when the award was named as Man of the Year, aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh was the first to be featured on the magazine’s cover. That year, he made the first nonstop trip from New York to Paris, a momentous achievement of what was possible. The incident had occurred the previous year, but it made TIME realize that such an accomplishment deserved recognition.
In 2021, Elon Musk won the award for his technical achievements as the CEO of SpaceX and the innovative firm Tesla, echoing the significance of this flying milestone.
Other recent recipients include President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg in 2019, former President Donald J. Trump in 2016, Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012, and the Silence Breakers, a group of women who spoke out against sexual harassment during the height of the #MeToo movement in 2017.
This Monday, the prestigious journal announced its shortlist of nominees for ‘Person of the Year’ in 2022, which included a disgraced soon-to-be-former congresswoman.
Time’s list includes Liz Cheney, who just lost her congressional seat in the Republican primary to former President Donald Trump’s hand-picked Republican candidate Harriet Hageman. Ultimately, Hageman won the seat in Wyoming’s midterm election.
Biz Pac Review noted that the Wyoming Republican has achieved bipartisan crossover appeal among those who love-to-hate Trump due to her public vendetta against former President Trump, which she has pursued with the maniacal ferocity of Captain Ahab’s quest to slay a certain white whale, earning her the enduring love of Resistance Democrats, many of whom openly despised her father, former President Dick Cheney.
Despite her catastrophic defeat by over forty points to a Trump-backed opponent in her own state’s primary this summer and the dramatic failure of the January 6 committee he leads, the left, notably the establishment media, hold Cheney in high regard.
Many Twitter users believed that Cheney’s presence on the list was inappropriate.
Elon Musk spent $44 billion to save free speech, but Liz Cheney might get Time person of the year because she hates Trump. LOL.
