In a nearly gleeful social media response, former President Donald Trump mercilessly attacked Rep. Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker Emerita, while referencing the peculiar October 2022 incident involving her spouse, an unknown assailant, and a hammer.
However, the former president made sure to note that this verbal assault was in response to provocative remarks made by Pelosi earlier in the week.
In a Sunday post to Truth Social, Trump lashed out at the former House Speaker:
“I purposely didn’t comment on Nancy Pelosi’s very weird story concerning her husband, but now I can because she said something about me, with glee, that was really quite vicious,” Trump began in his post.
Trump was referring to comments made by Pelosi during an interview with Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC on Friday.
Pelosi stated, while discussing the ongoing indictments against the former president, that she “saw a scared puppy” during Trump’s arraignment.
Given that Trump was photographed grinning broadly while interrupting a ceremony shortly after his arraignment, the characterization is undoubtedly debatable.
Unsurprisingly, Trump vehemently disagreed with Pelosi’s characterization, categorically denying that he had ever been “scared.”
“‘I saw a scared puppy,’ she said, as she watched me on television, like millions of others, that didn’t see that,” Trump continued in his Truth Social post. “I wasn’t ‘scared.’”
At this juncture, the former president escalates his invective against Pelosi (and her husband, Paul) to a level that, by his own standards, “was really quite vicious.”
“Nevertheless, how mean a thing to say!” Trump continued. “She is a Wicked Witch whose husbands journey from hell starts and finishes with her. She is a sick & demented psycho who will someday live in HELL!”
Despite the apparent gravity of eternal damnation, the former president’s palpable anger is understandable. He is facing three separate indictments and a multitude of criminal offenses, while simultaneously preparing for a 2024 election candidacy.
And while Trump’s aggressive bombast is hardly surprising, the manner in which he commented on the “very strange story concerning” Paul Pelosi is intriguing.
In October, David DePape allegedly broke into Paul Pelosi’s San Francisco residence and assaulted Pelosi with a crowbar, making Pelosi a national figure.
There is no true explanation for what transpired that night. As more information about the incident became available, it seemed that only more doubts arose.
Given this, it is not surprising that Trump’s audience would be eager to hear what he has to say about this enigma… However, it does not appear that he mentions this incident elsewhere in his damning Truth post.
The only time Trump brings up Paul Pelosi again in the post is when he mentions “[Nancy Pelosi] is a Wicked Witch whose husbands journey from hell starts and finishes with her.”
There is no evidence that Nancy Pelosi was involved in the unusual October incident, but Trump seems to be implying otherwise.
