On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump engaged in a game of taunting regarding his running mate, stating that he has decided on one while mocking former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Wednesday, Christie, who campaigned against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination on a platform of constant criticism of the former president, ceased his campaign activities.
Trump stated that he is aware of his running companion but declined to specify names at a town hall hosted by Fox News on Wednesday.
“I can’t tell you that really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” in response to a question regarding his ideal vice president.
After Bret Baier asked him to “give us a hint,” Trump said, “We’ll do another show sometime.”
Baier and Martha MacCallum co-led the town hall discussion; MacCallum posed a follow-up inquiry.
“Well, what about any of the people who you’ve run against? Would you be open to mending fences with any of them?” she said.
“Oh, sure. I will, I will. I’ve already started to like Christie better,” Trump remarked subsequent to Christie’s campaign suspension.
“Christie for vice president?” MacCallum inquired.
“I don’t see it, I don’t see it. That would be an upset. Christie for vice president. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to announce — nah,” the former president said.
Trump was “strongly considering” selecting a female running companion, according to Axios, which reported last spring, citing “people who discussed the topic with him.”
The Republican frontrunner told NBC News in September that he admired “the concept” of selecting a woman.
