President Donald Trump responded to Joe Biden’s choice to change his mind about the border wall policy. This came after news broke that the current government plans to start building next week.
During his bid for president in 2020, Biden spoke out against Trump’s border wall.
A new story from NBC News says that the Biden administration decided to change 26 federal rules so that building the border wall in southern Texas would be easier.
The choice was made because people were getting more worried about the situation with the migrants.
Officially, the Department of Homeland Security has said that the government is using its power to waive some federal rules so that construction work can continue without any problems.
- The Clean Air Act
- The Safe Drinking Water Act
- T Endangered Species Act
“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in the notice.
A spokesman from US Customs and Border Protection said that Mayorkas had given a waiver, which is what federal immigration law requires.
“Congress appropriated fiscal year 2019 funds for the construction of border barrier in the Rio Grande Valley, and DHS is required to use those funds for their appropriated purpose,” the CBP spokesperson said.
“CBP remains committed to protecting the nation’s cultural and natural resources and will implement sound environmental practices as part of the project covered by this waiver,” the spokesperson added.
President Biden has always been against former President Trump’s plan for a wall along the southern border, saying that it would waste money and not solve the problem at hand.
In August 2020, President-elect Joe Biden made a statement:
“There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, number one.”
Upon becoming the president in 2021, Biden issued an executive order that contained the following excerpt:
“It shall be the policy of my administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall.
Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution. It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security.“
That the government made the announcement is a big change in strategy.
On the social media site Truth Social, former President Donald Trump responded to President Joe Biden’s choice to change the policy on building a wall along the border.
“So interesting to watch Crooked Joe Biden break every environmental law in the book to prove that I was right when I built 560 miles (they incorrectly state 450 in story!) of brand new, beautiful border wall.
As I have stated often, over thousands of years, there are only two things that have consistently worked, wheels, and walls! Will Joe Biden apologize to me and America for taking so long to get moving, and allowing our country to be flooded with 15 million illegals immigrants, from places unknown.
I await his apology!”
The White House announced on Thursday that it would start building the wall again, noting the fact that Congress had already approved the necessary funding and that Congress had not passed President Biden’s immigration and border policies.
President Biden spoke to reporters on Friday.
“I was informed that I was forced to construct the extra wall section.”
A video from Mexico that came out not long ago showed thousands of people moving on open-air train cars toward the southern border of the United States.
The video, which was shared by independent reporter Auden Cabello and Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins, shows people coming from Mexico to the US border on a busy train. People are coming from all over the world.
