During a CNN town hall on Wednesday, when asked how he would stimulate the American economy, former President Donald Trump responded that he would promote American energy independence.
Americans benefited from low petroleum prices during Trump’s presidency, from 2017 to 2021. Since then, numerous households have been affected by the unprecedented inflation.
Not only have prices increased for petroleum, but also for products such as foodstuffs and other necessities.
In the past two years, prices have risen dramatically as a consequence of companies passing on expenses to customers.
Trump attended a CNN-hosted town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Wednesday evening, during which the network made a concerted effort to portray him as an extremist.
After network anchor Kaitlan Collins attempted to corner the nation’s 45th president on topics like the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol invasion and his legal troubles, undecided voters were eventually able to speak with him.
One of them asked him about his intentions for the first day of the second semester. After two years of dismal economic performance, Trump was questioned about his pledges to turn things around.
Danielle Rieger, an attendee at the town hall, inquired as to what President Trump would do to combat the rising cost of living, stating, “Over the past two years, we have seen prices for everything skyrocket.”
“If elected president again, what is the first thing you would do to help bring down costs to make things more affordable?” Rieger added.
Trump responded promptly.
“Drill, baby, drill,” he said as the audience applauded wildly.
