Former President Donald Trump has been the subject of multiple investigations, one of which is the accusations emanating from the Mar-a-Lago documents in his possession. Joe Biden and other political figures who were discovered to have government documents stored in their residences have not been charged.
Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed 37 counts against President Trump, all of which relate to his alleged mismanagement of “classified” documents. Trump has previously stated that he declassified all of the documents in his possession before leaving the Oval Office, as is the prerogative of an incumbent president.
The indictment alleges that on two occasions, Trump showed classified documents to individuals without the necessary security clearances. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), both incidents took place at Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf club.
Trump, on the other hand, has recently disclosed new information about a putative “secret document” that he previously mentioned in an audio recording and that has been at the center of the federal government’s indictment for the past month.
CNN received information regarding one of the alleged instances. Conservative Brief reports on the information that has leaked:
On June 2, the network disclosed that federal prosecutors had acquired an audio recording of a meeting held during the summer of 2021. In this recording, former President Donald Trump purportedly acknowledges retaining a classified Pentagon document related to a potential attack on Iran, which appears to undermine Trump’s earlier claim that he had declassified all relevant information before he left office.
The charges “include willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, concealing a document in a federal investigation, a scheme to conceal, and false statements and representations,” according to ABC News.
Trump, however, has refuted this.
Trump stated in a wide-ranging interview with Bret Baier on Fox News this month that he never showed anyone the classified U.S. military plan referenced in the audio recording.
Trump maintained vehemently that he never disclosed any classified military strategy for attacking Iran, which Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman U.S. Army General Mark Milley reportedly developed. He continued by stating that he never issued directives to create such a plan.
According to the indictment, the meeting in question centered on a forthcoming book written by a Trump staffer.

On July 21, 2021, the meeting took place at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, around six months after Trump’s presidency came to an end. In attendance were a writer, publisher, and two aides of the former president, and the main focus of the meeting revolved around a forthcoming book authored by Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff.
The indictment alleges that at the meeting, Trump said he found Milley’s “plan of attack.” But he denied ordering Milley to create such a plan and said it was a misconception. “I never ordered that to happen, no,” Trump told Baier. CONTINUE READING…
