Former President Donald Trump and his sons on Wednesday slammed New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) for “weaponizing her office” ahead of the midterm elections after she filed a civil fraud case against Trump, his three eldest children and his businesses.
“Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,” former President Trump posted on Truth Social. Trump was referencing a Trafalgar/Insider Advantage poll from last week that put James at 1.2% behind Republican challenger Michael Henry.
“I never thought this case would be brought — until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!” Trump said.
His sons who are also named in the civil case, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, also responded online:
“Letitia James is not working for the Attorney Generals office — she is working for the [Democratic National Committee]… 49 days before her election (newest poll has her tied with a Republican in New York State),” Eric Trump, the former president’s third eldest child, tweeted with a video compilation of James pledging to attack Trump.
Donald Trump Jr. called the case “disgraceful” and said James is “now desperately trying to fire up her leftwing base with this BS.”
Ivanka Trump, who was also named in the case, has not publicly posted a response to James’ case online.
The more than 200-page lawsuit claims that Trump businesses were all rife with fraud and that the Trump Organization deceived officials about property values.
