Tucker Carlson Sides with Guest That Trump Shouldn’t Be President: ‘I Agree 100%’

Published on

Thursday, Tucker Carlson casually categorized both the incumbent president and his leading Republican opponent as “too old” to lead the country.

During a wide-ranging social media interview with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Tucker Carlson brought up a number of political issues, but none were as eye-catching as his discussion of former President Donald Trump, whom many Republicans view as having the best chance of reclaiming the White House from Democrat control.

Despite this, both Portnoy and Carlson presented the former president with unexpected criticism.

The interview covered a wide range of topics, including Portnoy’s personal history with Barstool Sports (which he sold twice for hundreds of millions of dollars, and bought back for a dollar), pizza reviews and the country.

In the final two minutes of the interview, however, Portnoy and Carlson appeared to level some stinging criticisms at Trump, while still lavishing the former president with praise.

“I thought Trump … should’ve done the debate,” Portnoy began. “Like, to me, if you’re voting on the president, you want to hear him debate. He’s brilliant. He’s the best to ever play the political game, so to become president — I think it was the right move not to do it, but for the betterment of the country, I think he should be on the debate [stage.]”

“I kind of agree,” Carlson responded. “I like the debates, personally.”

Notably, Carlson and Trump conducted a much-hyped interview in August in lieu of (and in direct competition with) the first Republican presidential debate.

After both parties concurred that “the whole thing is rotten and corrupt,” Carlson asked Portnoy if he believes President Joe Biden will ultimately be the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“Is Biden going to be the nominee?” Carlson asked.

Portnoy ultimately deflected, stating that he was not a political person and therefore was unaware.

The Bartstool founder did add, however: “I feel like there’s been a shift where, internally, maybe the Democrats don’t think [Biden] can win, and they’re setting the stage and [plan to nominate] somebody else. I think it’s crazy if he’s [the nominee].

“I mean, to be honest, I think both Trump and Biden are too old. I don’t you think should be able to be that old [and] be president.”

The entire time Carlson nodded in agreement with Portnoy’s assessment, a sardonic smile crept onto his face.

“I agree 100 percent,” Carlson said, before Portnoy pointed out that Trump, despite his advanced age, is still far more “aware” than Biden — who was recently accused of falling asleep while speaking to survivors of the tragic Maui wildfires. (Liberal “fact checkers” later produced video to disprove that claim.)

In fact, if the next presidential election comes down to a rematch between Biden and Trump, regardless of who wins, America will swear in its oldest president in history at the subsequent inauguration.

Whether you identify as a Republican or a Democrat, Carlson and Portnoy both concur that you should be concerned about this.
