According to a new report, Tucker Carlson’s public statements about his faith and his worldview that society is in a battle between good and evil may have contributed to his dismissal from Fox News.
Gabriel Sherman’s report for Vanity Fair notes that additional causes have been proposed, ranging from the lawsuit Fox News settled for $787,5 million with Dominion Voting Systems to allegations of a hostile work environment by a former Fox News producer, Abby Grossberg.
However, a new theory emerged that Fox Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch wanted Carlson gone due to the former anchor’s public adoption of religious views similar to those of Murdoch’s ex-fiancee Ann Lesley Smith. According to additional reports, Murdoch was instrumental in Carlson’s dismissal.
Apparently Tucker Carlson had dinner with Rupert Murdoch and his then fiancé (who would've been his 5th wife at 92 years) in late March in which she called him a "messenger from God."
Rupert then dumped her and fired Tucker from his network a month later. pic.twitter.com/lYnb7VABtx

The report cited Carlson’s speech at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th Anniversary gala on Friday as an example, stating that it contained “religious overtones that even Murdoch found too extreme” according to a source who Sherman said “was briefed on Murdoch’s decision-making.”
“That stuff freaks Rupert out. He doesn’t like all the spiritual talk,” the source reported.
Sherman wrote that Smith claimed Carlson was “a messenger from God” and related a late-March story relayed by a source.
Carlson dined at Murdoch’s Bel Air vineyard with Murdoch and Smith. Smith opened her Bible during supper and read from the Book of Exodus.

“Rupert just sat there and stared,” the source said.
“A few days after the dinner, Murdoch and Smith called off the wedding. By taking Carlson off the air, Murdoch was also taking away his ex’s favorite show,” Sherman wrote.
