When the White House press corps senses a problem, you know there is one.

With the exception of Fox News’ Peter Doocy, the “journalists” who have pretended to cover the administration of President Joe Biden for the past two years have mastered the art of ignoring the evident ineptitude of the president and those around him.

Nonetheless, the press secretary of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, appears to have broken through with this group.

CNN’s “Reliable Sources” newsletter reported on Wednesday, of all places, that Biden’s press secretary had managed to alienate even the White House briefing room’s cheering section.

Despite being the first black press secretary and the first press secretary to be openly gay, the same stenographers who acted like swooning chorus girls for former White House press secretary Jen Psaki have never been as rah-rah and pom-poms for Jean-Pierre. (You can probably still find “Jen” circled in hearts in press corps notebooks.)

However, it cannot be denied that the press likes her. Since Jean-Pierre took up the position in May, she has been treated with the level of deference that no previous press secretary for President Donald Trump could have imagined.

The majority of Jean-habits, Pierre’s such as constantly checking a binder for answers, and mistakes, such as actually reading the incorrect response from the same binder, have gone unnoticed.

Again, with the exception of Doocy, who has a tendency to act like a professional journalist, the press corps has been entirely submissive.

In the midst of the crisis surrounding Biden’s theft of confidential data, however, Jean-Pierre has been caught flat-footed too often for even the tolerant liberals of the establishment media assigned to cover the White House.

Oliver Darcy of “Reliable Sources” notes that some are speaking up, but with the understanding that their identities would not be publicized. (Heaven forbid that the American folks find out who is saying what in Washington.)

Even the binders have garnered attention.

“You just get the feeling that you’re wasting your time and whatever is in front of her in the binder is all she is going to say, no matter how many times you ask the question,” Darcy wrote that one journalist told him. “It’s just a painful waste of time.”
