The widow of former President Barack Obama’s chef memorialized him on social media on Tuesday, a day after his corpse was discovered in a reservoir behind the Obamas’ Martha’s Vineyard residence.
Sherise Campbell, the widow of Obama chef Tafari Campbell, requested prayers during her time of loss.
“My heart is broken. My life and our family’s life is forever changed. Please pray for me and our families as I deal with the loss of my husband.. @chefafari,” said Sherise Campbell.

The Martha’s Vineyard weekly newspaper MV Times reported that 45-year-old Campbell perished while paddle boarding on Edgartown Great Pond on Sunday, close to the Obamas’ Martha’s Vineyard property.
According to MV Times, Campbell’s body was discovered Monday approximately 100 feet from the shore in water approximately eight feet deep.
Campbell “went into the water, appeared to briefly struggle to stay on the surface, and then submerged and did not resurface,” according to a Massachusetts State Police news release.
Campbell was a “beloved part of our family” and a “talented sous chef at the White House,” which is why Barack and Michelle Obama asked him to continue working for them after he left the White House in 2017.

“He’s been part of our lives ever since, and our hearts are broken that he’s gone,” their statement read, according to CNN.
